- ABOUT ME -

My name is Mike Clerc, I'm an avid hunter and outdoorsman, and that is primarily how I got into knife making. After years and years of not being able to find a knife that suited my needs, and since I've always been kind of "handy" with my hands, I decided to make my own knife, one that would hold an edge and comfortably fit my rather sizable hand. If you're a hunter or outdoorsman like me, then you probably know how frustrating it is to have a knife that prematurely dulls, or just doesn't fit your hand like you'd like for it to. I always carried four different knives with me when hunting elk, because it took all of them to dependably finish the job of cleaning an elk, a rather sizable animal to say the least. I knew from experience that there were steels out that could be turned into a darned useful knife that would meet all my needs.

After successfully completing my first knife and using it to make sure all my needs were met, my hunting buddy was so impressed with the performance and appearance of that knife that he immediately requested that I make one for him. This type of exchange continued repeatedly to the point where I had several knife orders from other hunting buddies wanting to "share in the wealth".

- MY KNIVES -

I make my knife blades using the stock removal method, utilizing materials chosen for the toughness, ease of sharpening, and edge holding capabilities they provide. I don't do the heat-treat on my knife blades, I prefer having them done by specialists in that field, as it is an art to do it right, ensuring toughness and durability. I utilize individuals I think are the best in the industry for heat-treating, Paul Bos, D'Holder and Lee Oates, ensuring the absolute best possible heat-treat available today. The majority of my blades are hollow ground, however, I will do flat grind if that is what you desire for you particular knife.

For handle material, I will use nearly any handle material you choose, it is basically up to you as to the material used for your knife. I stock all of the "regular" materials, like stabilized wood, Micarta, Desert Ironwood etc, but if you have something else in mind, that can be worked out as well. On all of my personal knives, I utilize either linen or canvas Micarta and sand blast the surface to maintain a solid gripping surface, even when wet. To me there is nothing more durable than Micarta, it is impervious to oils, blood, acids or anything else you can throw at it.

If you choose to have me make you a knife, it will be your knife, I just need to know what you want so that I can make it that way. I enjoy new and different ideas and will work with you on a design.

- MY GUARANTEE -

I guarantee my knives against defects in workmanship and material (not including natural materials) for as long as I'm physically able to repair or replace them. This guarantee does not include obvious abuse. I reserve the right to make the final determination in cases of abuse.

If, after receiving your knife, you are not completely satisfied for any reason, you may return it in unused condition for a full refund (shipping and handling costs excluded).
